Deep Sea
Methods and Form in Architecture I, Yale College, Fall 2019Inspired by jellyfish from BBC’s Planet Earth, I sought to recreate the freeform bioluminescent body of the creature. As I worked, starting with plastic shower caps, water, and glow-in-the-dark bracelets, I realized the wonder of the jellyfish body is its thin membrane; almost nothing materially stops the jellyfish from simply spilling out into the depths of the ocean. My task: create a form that is formless, contain the seemingly uncontainable, and display the fragility between these solid and liquid states.
